For many years, alumni clubs across the country have recognized outstanding high school students by presenting them with a book award.  Inscribed with a personalized bookplate, individual alumni have the opportunity to connect with a deserving student at a local high school, either by participating in the presentation of a book or writing a congratulatory letter. Winners are selected by guidance staff at the individual schools.  The Dartmouth Club of South Florida has a strong program in Miami-Dade, Broward, and Palm Beach, awarding nearly 40 books annually.

The purpose of the award is to recognize the achievements of students in the year prior to their high school graduation with a book written by a Dartmouth author together with marketing materials provided by the College.  This is in an effort to make South Florida high school students more aware of Dartmouth, potentially piquing their interest in applying to the College.
